Alan Rousseau and Tino Villanueva win 2020 Piolets d'Or


On September 19, 2020 four remarkable ascents will be awarded Piolets d'Or 2020 during the 25th edition of the Ladek Mountain Film Festival in Poland.  Of the four being awarded, two of the teams are American! Our own Beal and Grivel athlete Alan Rousseau is receiving the award for his 2019 ascent with Tino Villanueva of Tengi Ragi Tau (22,762 ft).

What is a UNICORE Rope?


With Beal's line of dynamic climbing ropes that feature UNICORE, climbers now have a safer option to consider when purchasing a rope. UNICORE permanently bonds a rope’s sheath to its core. This eliminates sheath slippage, allows a climber to escape off the rope if the sheath has been cut, reduces rope shrinkage, and allows for the temporary cutting of a rope without the usual fraying of the sheath.

To Bolt or Not to Bolt?


Edelweiss ambassador Josie McKee talks about her trip to Nepal with Savannah Cummins and Dawa Yangzum. They went to the Rolwaling Valley with the intent of bolting multiple sport climbing routes for the locals, but found that the act of adding bolts to the landscape was a perhaps a tougher mental challenge than physical.
