BIOGRAPHY

My dad had gotten into climbing when I was about 8 years old. At that time I thought it was just something my parents did and I would go every once in a while to appease them.  Then one time when I was 18 my friends decided they wanted to go climb at the Quarry for fun. Since I was still on my parents family membership, I went with them. That night, everything changed! Now I was going on my own with my friends and I realized how much I loved it! At that point I was hooked. I was lucky to have my dad and some of his old head friends to take me outside and teach me everything I could want to know.

I feel like I started climbing at a bit of a pivot point in climbing. While, yes I did climb in the gym, I still had the privilege of learning to lead from a mentor outside. Being taken underwing by stronger and more knowledgeable climbers is something I do not take for granted. Now with so many new climber learning in the gym, I like to think of myself as a bit of a “gym mentor”. I manage the adult Climbing School for Momentum Indoor Climbing gym. I love getting to help people through their journey of climbing! I can geek out over climbing technique for too long! It is really cool to see the lightbulb moment when a movement finally clicks with a climber. A slight shift of the hips can sometimes make a world of difference!
